Renowned soprano Elin Manahan Thomas prepares to perform with Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in Dartford

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will be bringing their Last Night At The Proms concert to Dartford's Orchard Theatre next month.

The world famous orchestra will be performing a number of classical favourites at the venue.

These include a number of WWII inspired pieces such as Cedar Walton's Spitfire: Prelude and Fugue, The Dambuster's March and A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square.

The concert will also feature well known pieces such as Edward Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance March No.1 and his arrangement of Hubert Parry's Jerusalem.

As well as marking the Royal Philharmonoc Orchestra's 70th anniversary, this year also signifies cartier ring knock off with diamonds the tenth anniversary of the first concert that they performed at the Dartford venue.

The show will be presented and conducted by John Rigby.

Mr Rigby has previously been the musical director of a number of West End shows including The King and I, Les Miserables, The Producers and Phantom of the Opera.

The concert will also feature soprano Elin Manahan Thomas.

Since releasing her first album Eternal Light with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, she has performed in a number of prestigious concert and recital halls around the world.

She also performed at the opening ceremony of the London Paralympics in 2012 entertaining a worldwide television audience of more than a billion people.

And she said that she is looking forward to taking to the stage and performing in the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra's concert.

She explained: "It's always great fun. The fluffy dress, the rousing songs. My friends all know I sing lots of early music but they come to my Last Night concerts to hear me sing all the big songs and arias.

"It's great fun but I do take it seriously."

With many members of the audience knowing the music well and expecting a good performance, she says that she feels the need to do a good job.

"There's a real pressure to sing at your very best," she said.

"Part of me hopes people will just get carried away with the big tunes but I know they'll be keen the performances meet their high expectations. I promise not to disappoint them."

She said that the orchestra offered her invaluable support during the performances.

"The members of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra are such capable and versatile musicians," she explained.

The Last Night At The Proms concert will be taking place at the Orchard Theatre on June 5.
